Gould describes meeting Stokowski at the age of about 20 years old when Stokowski conducted his Chorale and Fugue in Jazz; he describes Stokowski's genius as a conductor, his introduction of new repertoire, his style of conducting, his careful study of scores, his recordings of Gould's works, and an amusing incident when Stokowski conducted Gould's American Salute as an encore at the Robin Hood Dell in Philadelphia.
